Meet star student Akram, recent Jordan DIP graduate and full time web development freelancer!

Akram is a web developer from Iraq, who graduated from the Jordan Digital Inclusion Program (DIP) this past May. Akram is motivated by his passion for programming, and works fluently in 7 different programming languages, including HTML, CSS, and Javascript. Throughout the DIP, he particularly enjoyed his time interacting with peers and ICT instructor Noor!

We asked Akram to share his experiences and plans for the future.

Taban and Juma are our two Digital Inclusion Program (DIP) ICT instructors in the Kakuma Refugee Camp. As our resident experts on the DIP curricula, they have been diligently teaching our first cohort of students about computer operating systems, Excel formulas, professional client communication, and more! We asked Taban and Juma about how they see the DIP Kakuma impacting local communities.

Kakuma interview Series Part 3: Meet Ogata

Ogata is a young refugee from the Congo currently enrolled in our Kakuma DIP. Dedicated and ambitious, Ogata leads by example, and intends to inspire other women in her community to seek further education and employment opportunities. As an orphan, she is passionate about giving back to communities in need, and intends to use the money she earns freelancing to help those with disabilities and start a fund to rehabilitate orphans.

Our Kakuma cohort includes 35 female refugees from diverse backgrounds, who began courses on April 25th. This is the third interview in a series of four.

Graduation announcement! Nyajuok has successfully completed our Nairobi DIP!

On June 20th, our Nairobi DIP students danced across the graduation stage. This program was our second cohort of all-female refugees launched in partnership with RefuSHE. We are so proud of all our students – the hours of hard work they dedicated to our program has finally paid off!

Among these dedicated students was Nyajuok, a young South Sudanese student who plans to pursue accounting. We had the pleasure of sitting down with Nyajuok, who shared her thoughts on the program and her aspirations for the future.
