Student testimonies
Saleem, a newly trained technician who started from zero.
Saleem came to France from his home country of Pakistan in 2019, where he started working as an airport receptionist. However, when the COVID pandemic hit, Saleem found himself without enough hours to make ends meet. This inspired him to reorient his career towards tech, which he saw as full of up-and-coming opportunities. When he joined Konexio, Saleem had no network or router configuration skills. But he was determined to learn, and enrolled Konexio’s Senior Systems and Network Technician (TSSR) program. It was difficult to start off, but Saleem performed well. After his training, he scored an internship at Capgemini in Toulouse. During his internship, he was contacted by Akkodis, an engineering and technology consulting group, who intends to hire him full-time after his training is complete. Today, Saleem is looking forward to working for Akkodis and plans to take the CCNA and CCNP certifications to become a Network System Administrator. |
De-Chen, from catering to web development.
"Konexio opened the door to a better future for me." De-Chen arrived in France in 2013 as an asylum seeker. Over the next few years, she earned a CAP (vocational training certificate) in catering and learned French. But she had always been interested in learning web development. Upon discovering Konexio, she joined the DigiStart course to introduce her to coding. After she graduated, she continued her training by enrolling in Konexio’s DevWeb course. With Konexio’s help, she now has the professional title of web and mobile developer. |
Axel, using digital as a springboard to employment
Axel is a disabled worker who was in ESAT (a program in France which offers people with disabilities professional opportunities) for 13 years. But he had a new professional project in mind: he wanted to apply for a job as a receptionist, which would require basic digital skills for office functions. Axel was having difficulty finding a training program adaptable to his disability that wouldn’t be too costly. Finally, at 33 years old, he enrolled in Konexio’s DigitAll training program. Under Konexio's supervision and support, he was able to acquire the skills necessary to make his goals a reality. Satisfied with his experience at Konexio, he left his ESAT and took up a regular job this past June at a cafe. He also plans to continue improving his digital skills with more difficult courses at Konexio. |
KONEXIO'S MISSION AND VISION
"Talent is equally distributed. Opportunities are not."
Konexio fights to close the digital divide, which disproportionately affects society’s most vulnerable groups. We envision a world where no one is left behind due to lack of digital skills, and we want to give everyone the opportunity to explore their talents. Our innovative programs use digital skills as a vehicle for opportunity and inclusion. To date, we have trained and supported over 6,400 students. With your help, we take our impact even further!
