Wero, a support agency for refugees without legal standing in France, partnered with big companies in the food and furniture industries (Monoprix, Leclerc, IKEA), for an operational readiness through employment and skills program. The program consists of 150 hours of education, followed by a professional immersion, meant to help participants acquire skills and discover new careers and occupational fields (logistics agent, order fulfiller, specialized sales clerk). Konexio participated in this project by helping to create a daylong event centered on the business uses of smartphones. Occupations are increasingly impacted by evolving technology, and having a solid foundation of digital skills is a real advantage in finding and holding a job. More programs are planned throughout the fall in the Ile de France region.
New from the Malawi Program
The students are incredibly motivated! They are overcoming every obstacle, acquiring new digital skills and gaining financial independence. The goal defined by operating partner Jesuit Refugee Services (JRS) and Konexio is that students can work independently from now until the end of January 2021 to earn money to help improve their daily lives.
