It’s official! Konexio is pleased to announce the successful launch of its training of trainers program with our longstanding partner, Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS). Now in the Middle East, Konexio is excited to extend our Digital Inclusion Program (DIP) to those in need in Amman, training refugee and Jordanian youth in digital skills and online freelancing. JRS trainers, Dima, Noor, and Dania will participate in Konexio’s intensive ToT course from July through mid September in preparation for our first student cohort launch at the end of September.

Students in Konexio’s Malawi program have completed their skills training and are moving into the practical part of the course, while engagement continues through workshops for our alumni students from previous cohorts.

The current group of students are actively earning income during freelancing, and have all successfully registered on at least one platform, overcoming a major hurdle for refugees, who lack easily-recognized identification. Their next big challenge is to land clients. So far, some have been successful, finding a niche in translation and AI data annotation.

What is your background?
From a very young age, I lived between two countries: Italy and Senegal, which allowed me to become trilingual very quickly: Wolof, French and Italian. I have lived in Italy since I was a teenager. Then my children grew up and we decided to come to France to allow them to follow an ambitious school curriculum.

What profession would you like to focus on now?
For 2 years I was enrolled in a RATP training course to become a bus driver. My favorite job. I have been driving large vehicles for a long time, and I must say that I am quite good at driving.
However, because of the Covid crisis, I have not been able to finish this training.

Natacha is 27 years old and works as a Customer Success Manager at Closd, a legal-tech startup. Natacha grew up in Alsace and has lived in Paris since she graduated.

Did you specifically want to do volunteer work in the digital sector?
Not necessarily in the digital field, but I was thinking of joining a non-profit in a field that interests me and where I would have skills that could be useful. When I discovered Konexio, I was offered to come and see how a course operated, and I liked it, so I joined the adventure.
